About
Samsoche Sampson is an Interdisciplinary artist based in Grand Rapids, Minnesota. He was born and raised in Southern California and moved around the United States before settling in Minnesota. Samsoche has a Bachelor of Fine Arts from Columbia College Chicago and an Associate of Arts from Erie Community College.
His work includes: performances in creating traditional/contemporary dance and music fusions. Samsoche’s indigenous heritage and culture inform his studio and 2D work that are designed with movement and bright, bold colors. His work has been shown at Columbia College Chicago, The Ware Center(Millersville University), and The Reif Performing Arts Center in Grand Rapids, MN.
Samsoche is one half of The Sampson Bros which he performs alongside his brother Lumhe Micco Sampson. Together they have taken their performance all throughout North America and Europe. As collaborators, over the course of their career they have shared the stage with Keith Secola, Frank Waln, Jana Mashonee, Brule, and many others.
The Sampson Bros. were highlighted by PBS’s award winning web series “If Cities Could Dance: Minneapolis.” Samsoche and Lumhe were also invited to do a presentation of their fusion at TEDx Minneapolis as featured speakers. Samsoche and his brother have been performing artists for most of their lives which spans over at least 30 years.
